Blythe Scammers Part 1 - an ongoing investigation

I'm naturally a curious person, especially when it comes to the internet. I can spend hours and hours buried deep in a web of links if I am interested in something. Fake Blythe dolls are a bit of a controversial issue in the Blythe community. Some people believe they are just bad factory jobs, some believe they are fake. Takara has not released an official statement about the issue with Hasbro claiming they would investigate "quality control issues". Several dolls that I believe to be fake were sold mainly through Ebay. For pictures and information about these dolls see this group: Fake Takara Blythe Galore.

Pics below from Fake Takara Blythe Galore on flickr.

I wouldn't mind some fake Blythes, if they were advertised as being fakes. I would still customise them and photograph them. I do mind that people are selling these inferior dolls, made from poor quality materials, at the same price you would pay for an official doll. Everything from the hair, body texture, face shape, clothing, shoes and boxes are poor quality.

These are shoes from a fake Takara Simply Guava, I feel angry for the lady that bought this doll at the same price as a real one.

I have become quite determined to find the source of these strange fakes and have found some interesting rip off artists, scammers and fakers along the way. I have not yet located the source but I think the information I have found is worth posting.

To be continued.....

I'm interested to hear what you've found out. It's been so bizarre in the Blythe world for a little while now what with all the factory girls and now these fakes. Good luck on your quest!
